Braaap Nutrition, LLC started as a husband/wife team. It was launched in June 2011 in Fort Collins, CO and the owners are still directly involved with the manufacturing of the energy bars.
It all started when they decided that they could put their back grounds together and develop a product with a fun name that could be used in ANY discipline and that was absolutely uncompromising in its nutrition, quality and taste. They also wanted to bring a product to the market place that reached those populations with allergies, but that still tasted really good. Since there wasn't anything on the shelves that met their expectations, they took off, full-throttle, engineering the Braaap Energy Bar!
He had been doing some sort of racing his whole life, from motocross, supermoto, jet skis, and road racing. He knew what the “Braaap” sound meant and its been part of his vernacular since he was a kid. He thought it would be a fun idea to develop some sort of product called 'Braaap' since everyone says it, from the motocross industry folks to the cyclocross racers and mountain bike riders. She had been in the fitness industry for 14 years and is an outdoor enthusiast. She’s done everything from hiking Kilimanjaro to roaming/camping in Mongolia in the Peace Corps, distance running, mountain/road biking and had been cooking some of her own health products in the home. They know how necessary it is to have quality food and energy sources while in the midst of doing these activities. The meaning and energy of the word 'Braaap' is rooted in their lifestyles.
